FAQs
Who are the retreats for?
1
Our retreats are for anyone who has lost someone they love to suicide. Each retreat is created for a particular group, so that you are surrounded by people who understand your kind of loss, and you will find the details for each one on our Retreats page.
When and where are the retreats held?
2
We keep several retreats on the calendar at a time, and you can find the current dates on our Retreats page. For now, all of our retreats take place in the Nayarit region of Mexico, along the Pacific coast. We hope to offer retreats in the United States soon, so please check back if a domestic option would suit you better.
How much does it cost, and how do I reserve my place?
3
Pricing varies by retreat and is listed with each one. A $500 deposit secures your place and is applied toward the cost of your retreat, with your final payment due no later than 30 days before it begins.
What forms of payment do you accept?
4
We accept credit and debit cards, Zelle, Venmo, ACH and wire transfers, and Afterpay for those who would like to spread their payments out over time. If you would like to pay by a method other than card, contact our office and we will send you the details.
What is included?
5
Your retreat includes lodging, meals, guided group sessions, holistic practices such as yoga, meditation, and sound baths, round transportation to and from the airport, and selected excursions. Airfare and travel insurance are your responsibility.
How do I get there?
6
Can I stay longer in Mexico?
7
Do I need to know how to surf?
8
Many of our guests do, and we offer travel assistance for those who would like to extend their stay. Whether you want to arrive early or linger afterward, we can help you plan time that suits you.
How do I know if I am ready?
9
You will fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport, and we take care of your ground transportation from there and back again at the end of your stay. A valid passport is required to travel to Mexico, and we are always glad to answer travel questions before you book.
Is the retreat a form of therapy?
10
There is no waiting period and no right time. We have welcomed guests who were only weeks past their loss and others who had been carrying it for years. If you are unsure, reach out and we will talk it through with you before you decide.
What is your cancellation policy?
11
Not at all. Most of our guests have never stood on a board, and our instructors will meet you wherever you are, including on the days you would prefer to watch from the sand.
What if the retreat I want is full?
12
Our retreats offer healing practices and community, and they are not a substitute for clinical or emergency care. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 in the United States.
Your $500 deposit is non-refundable once your place on a retreat is confirmed. If you cancel 60 days or more before your retreat, we will refund 50% of what you have paid beyond your deposit. Cancellations made within 60 days of the retreat are not eligible for a refund, which is one reason we encourage every guest to purchase travel insurance.
You have two options. You can join our waiting list, and we will contact you if a place opens or when new dates are announced. Or, if you would like to be sure of a place, you can hold your spot on the next retreat of the same kind with a $500 deposit, which is applied toward your retreat cost and remains fully refundable until you confirm your dates.
